Clifton A. Bulgar, 94 of New Bedford died October 31, 2011 at Sacred Heart Home.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John and Catherine (Runnells) Bulgar, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Bulgar was formerly employed by the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He was also a foster grandparent for 25 years.
He was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
Mr. Bulgar served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the battles of North Appenines and Po Valley. He was the recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign ribbon, the American Defense medal and the World War II Victory medal.
He was a member of the Cape Verdean-American Veterans Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Fort Phoenix Post 2892.
Survivors include a brother, John Bulgar of New Bedford; 3 sisters, Theresa Bazar of Indian Land, SC, Grace Goodine of New Bedford and Sarah Stroud of New York; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the brother of the late Mary Andrews and Matilda Talley.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 7th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday, November 6th from 4-8 PM.
