Obituary

Worcester/West Boylston: John H. Gordon, Sr., 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 30, 2011 in Knollwood Nursing Center. He leaves two sons John H. Gordon, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Brookfield, and Robert S. Gordon and his fiance Allyson Ryan of West Boylston; five grandchildren Holly Gordon of Spencer, Kevin Gordon of Brookfield, and Amanda, Justin, and Robert Gordon all of Worcester; his companion of over 23 years Barbara Whitman of West Boylston; and his beloved cat Spaz. He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years Christine (Sandberg) Gordon in 1988, and a son Steven Gordon in 1966.

John was born in North Grafton, son of the late Hamilton and Esther (Forss) Gordon. He graduated from Grafton High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked as an Abrasive Production Assistant for Norton Co. for many years. He was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed spending time with his family, and liked to watch programs on the military channel. The family would like to thank the staff at Knollwood Nursing Center for all their compassionate care of John.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 from 5 - 8 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
