Richard P. “Dick” Doran, 83, a lifelong Natick resident, succumbed to complications due to pneumonia and heart failure on October 27, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Ann M. (Cotter) Doran with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
Born in Natick, the son of the late Francis E. and Mary E. (Lyons) Doran, he served in the United States Navy during WWII & Korea. Mr. Doran was a 50-year employee of the Ford Motor Company. He spent many years on the road for Ford, but always found the time to show family, friends, neighbors, the ailing and sick, and especially parishioners of St. Patrick’s parish where he served as an Extraordinary Minister, his limitlessly huge heart of giving as well as story telling for all to share.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Doran is survived by his children, Michael F. Doran and his wife Grace of FL, Deirdre A. Doran and her partner Jacqueline DiLeo of NC, and John P. Doran and his partner Mary Garvin of Lowell; grandchildren, Patrick Doran and his wife Katherine of NC and Kristen Hughes and her husband Josh of NH; great-grandchildren, Edward Doran and Abigail Hughes; and sisters-in-law, Sr. Deirdre Cotter, O.P. of KY and Rita Doran of Natick. He was the brother of the late Atty. Francis M. Doran and Robert J. Doran.
Funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) NATICK on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 9:00 AM to be followed by his Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church, Natick at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 from 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Doran’s memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Parish, 44 East Central St. Natick, MA 01760.
