Martha Kathleen Smith, 76, Douglas, GA passed away on Friday, October 28, 2011 in Watkinsville, GA following a brief illness. Mrs. Smith was born in Ambrose, GA on July 18, 1935 to the late David Lee and Ethel Lee Harper Bishop. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband: Harry C. Smith; sons: Larry Joe Harper and Jerry David Harper and sister: Josie Harper. She had worked as a waitress at the Holiday Inn Restaurant and she attended the Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church.
Funeral services are planned for Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Bethany Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Ferrell Harper and Elder John Shelton Mikell officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include: granddaughter: Heather (Matthew) Harper Medley, Watkinsville, GA; sisters: Willie Maude Spell, Douglas, GA, Irene Jowers, Wray, GA; brother: William Bishop, Jacksonville Beach, FL; nieces: Margie Spell Harper, Douglas, GA, Frances Smith, Ambrose, Mahala Pearson, Fitzgerald, GA, Davon Burnam, Wray, GA; nephew: E. J. Jowers, Wray, GA, Mack Harper, Savannah, GA; several great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Sims Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to
9:00 p.m. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
