Springfield – James M. Murphy, 57, of Springfield, formerly of Worcester died on Wednesday, October 26th in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after an illness.
Mr. Murphy is survived by three sisters Linda A. Murphy of Worcester, Kathleen M. Belsito and her husband George of Grafton and Eileen L. Brackett and her husband Douglas of Worcester; a brother Daniel B. Murphy and his wife Kathleen of Worcester and several nephews and nieces as well as 1 great nephew.
Jimmy was born in Worcester, son of the late William M. and Ruth M. (Hagerty) Murphy and attended the Worcester Public Schools.
Mr. Murphy worked as a social worker for Center for Human Development Inc. for 20 years and retired in 2005.
Jimmy’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the transplant team and all those involved with his care at Massachusetts General Hospital for the wonderful care that he received.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. on Saturday, October 29th from 4 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the MGH Lung Transplant Program c/o MGH Development Office 55 Fruit Street Boston, MA 02114.
