Jeffrey Holmes Bowie, 64, of Chestnut Hill Road, died at RI Hospital on Wednesday,October 27, 2011 after a two year battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Patricia J.”PJ” Bowie. It was their 19th wedding anniversary and Jeffrey’s birthday on October 24th.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Eugene C. and Hazel L. (Holmes) Bowie, Jeff grew up in North Scituate before moving to Glocester.
He was a 1965 graduate of Scituate High School and a 1969 graduate of the University of RI.
Jeff was the owner of Bowie Casting Company and Conway & Rassendyll in Smithfield. He was one of the founders of G-Form. He was a cycle coach for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of RI. Jeffrey was also very involved in Glocester politics. He was the Vice Chairman of the Glocester Heritage Society, the former Chairman of the Republican Town Committee, former Chairman of the Charter Review Committee and former Vice-Chairman of the Glocester Land Trust.
Besides his wife, he survived by his brothers James T.Bowie of Spotslyvania, VA, and Ronald I. Bowie of Georgia.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 19, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the North Scituate Baptist Church, 619 West Greenville Road, North Scituate. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of 1210 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920
