Obituary

Mr. Howard George Deshler of Danvers, formerly of Medford and Arlington and beloved husband of Dorothy M. (Stewart) Deshler, died at the Blueberry Hill Nursing Center in Beverly on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. He was 93 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 10, 1918, he was the beloved son of the late Howard M. and Bertha M. (Harding) Deshler.
Mr. Deshler attended Wentworth College and was a WWII Navy Veteran. He entered the military at Cambridge on May 15, 1944 and received his honorable discharge in February, 1946. He was awarded the European-African Area Medal, the WWII Victory Medal and the American Area Medal for his exemplary service.
After leaving the military, Howard worked as an Ordinance Tech. for the Navy Yard. In his spare time, Mr. Deshler enjoyed playing golf. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 35. Above all, Howard was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Besides his beloved wife, Dorothy, he will be very sorely missed by his loving son Lawrence J. Deshler of Albuquerque, New Mexico, grandsons; Jonathan M. and his wife Julia M. Deshler and Brandon H. Deshler, great-granddaughter; Emma R. Deshler, siblings; John F. Deshler North Andover and Herman A. Deshler, Arlington, daughter-in-law; Lorraine M. Montuori of Seabrook, New Hampshire and many nieces and nephews. He was also the loving father of the late Dodie B. MacGillivray and Bud Deshler and brother of the late Raymond E. and Bertha Deshler. His funeral service was celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Friday, October 28, 2011, at 9 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held on Thursday, October 27, 2011, from 3 to 7 PM. Interment was in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. A reception followed interment at Brightview, Main Dining Room, 50 Endicott Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
