Mildred E. “Mimi’ (Burke) Coots, age 94 of Brockton died Tuesday October 25, 2011 at Park Avenue Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Arlington after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Everett R. Coots, Jr. for 61 years.
Mimi was born in Brockton, a daughter of the late James and Cora (Best) Burke and remained in the city for most of her life. A 1936 graduate of Brockton High School, Mimi had worked for 15 years at Foxboro Company. In her younger years she was a waitress at the White Rabbit Restaurant in Onset.
In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, especially Irish sweaters, jumble puzzles and Saturday nights at the VFW Dances. Mimi was most proud of being an identical twin and dressing alike with her sister.
She is survived by her three sons Richard J. Coots and his wife Elizabeth of Melrose, Thomas F. Coots and his wife Laura of W. Bridgewater and Robert D. Coots and his wife Linda of Marlboro. She leaves ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was the twin sister of Marjorie Rondeau of Brockton and the late Lena Dunn, Allyene Burke and Lester Burke.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 4-8pm. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home Friday at 10am.
