GLOUCESTER: Valerie M. (Gray) Collins, 70, died early Tuesday morning, October 25, 2011 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Gloucester on April 9, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Ellis C. and Eleanor M. (Burke) Gray. She was a lifelong resident and graduate of the Gloucester High School.
Valerie had been employed for several years as a personal caregiver. She enjoyed knitting, music, movies and bingo. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by two daughters, Tammy and Nancy Peal; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Erick Collins and Joseph and Deana (Orlando) Collins; five grandchildren, Shaun and Brandon Peal, Nicole and Erick Collins II, and Sarah-Jean Collins; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank, husband of Carol Gray, Russell, husband of Janet Gray and Gene Gray; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon in the Beechbrook Cemetery, West Gloucester at 2 p.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 5 -7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
