Obituary

Alice N. Stone left this world on October 11, after a short illness. She was born Alice Nancy Martin in Boston in 1927, and lived her entire life in Massachusetts. She loved the Red Sox, and the Patriots. Alice was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Harold L. Stone, and her brother Orin K. Martin. She is survived by her bother Paul A. Martin of Eugene, Oregon, her sister Dorothy Cowen of Medfield, MA, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Alice became a licensed nurse and worked the majority of her career at Wrentham School. Alice was an accomplished seamstress and crafter and attended numerous doll crafting courses in the Northeast. In recent years she had started making Angel dolls for her friends and family.

Alice’s husband Harold was the President of the Paralyzed Veterans’ of America and for many years they were fortunate to travel to many of the PVA functions around the United States. Harold was a quadriplegic but he never hesitated to travel and try new things. He and Alice traveled in Europe and Hawaii during their marriage.

In her later years Alice traveled to Oregon to visit her niece Karen and her great nephews, Trevor and Justin Hardcastle, as well as her brother Paul. On her last trip she spent several days on a road trip along the Oregon Coast with her niece.

At home Alice had a wonderful group of friends who kept her busy, and took care of her. Her church was very important to Alice and the help they provided maintaining her home was invaluable. Also the Brunelli’s of Franklin became a second family for Alice and their love and care was so important to Alice. Alice’s niece Karen and Barbara Brunelli considered her their second mother.

To the end Alice was a fighter and was sure she would once again come back to the home and family she loved. Alice is now at home with her family and friends who have gone before her. Alice will be buried in the spring at Arlington Nation Cemetery with her late husband Harold. She is loved and will be missed, staying in our hearts forever.
