Mr. Hugo "Sticka" Guarino, age 87, of Tewksbury formerly of Boston's North End, passed away peacefully on October 20th, at the Wingate at Belvidere Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Residence of Lowell, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Reppucci) Guarino together sharing forty years of marriage. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Gaetano and Assunta (Falcone) Guarino.
Hugo worked for many years as a manager at his brother's night club, The Sugar Shack, which was located on Boylston St. in Boston, prior to its closing. He also worked for many years at the Ford Plant in Somerville. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed going to the race track with friends to see the horses run.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Dana Guarino of Malden, Stepdaughters, Diane Tanso of Tewksbury, Debbie Gilardi of Everett, daughter Nadine Doherty of Everett. He is also survived by several loving step grandchildren. He was the brother of Rudy "Hippo" Guarino of Las Vegas, and Flora Wentz of Philadelphia. He is predeceased by his son, the late Mark Giannino, and sister, the late Eva Leiva.
A funeral mass will be celebrated, Monday, October 24th, at 9:45 a.m. at St. Leonard Church, Hanover St., Boston. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Hugo’s memory to Wingate at Belvidere, 500 Wentworth Ave, Lowell, MA 01852.
