Ronda S. (Fontes) Duarte, 66, of New Bedford died October 18, 2011 unexpectedly.
She was the wife of Bruce W. Duarte.
Born in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late Robert and Olivia (Fontes) Pires, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Duarte was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She was employed as a para-professional at the Gomes School.
Mrs. Duarte enjoyed trips to the casino.
Survivors include her husband; 3 sons, Robert Duarte of Honolulu, HI, Bruce Duarte, Jr. of Attleboro and Joseph Santos of Boston; 3 daughters, Dana Duarte Pina and her husband Lawrence and Erin Duarte, all of New Bedford, Erleen Hughes of Norfolk, VA; a brother, Robert Pires, Jr. and his wife Laurieann of Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Sheila Pires of Fall River and Joanna Pires of New Bedford; 14 grandchildren including 4 that she raised, Tyson Rose, Bobbie Duarte and Tyler Duarte, all of New Bedford and Devin Duarte of California; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Allan Pires.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Saturday, October 22nd at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Visiting hours Friday, October 21st from 4-8 PM.
