Joan C. Daskal, 78, of Derry, NH, died Monday October 17, 2011 in Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry. She was born in Lawrence, MA on November 2, 1932, a daughter of the late George and Rose (Martin) Martin. She had been a resident of Derry since 1970, formerly living in Lawrence. Joan was employed at the IRS in Lawrence and Andover, MA for many years, as well as by Hadco Printed Circuits in Derry. She enjoyed trips to Mohegan Sun in CT and loved to play cards with her friends.
She is survived by her husband George Daskal of Derry; one son, Glen Daskal of Derry; three sisters, Eleanor Martin of Sandown, NH, Leona Dubois of Derry, and Ann Hmurciak of Andover, MA; one brother, Donald Martin of CT; her brother in law Nicholas Daskal of Limerick, ME; her sister in law Betty MacRury of York, ME; several nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces, great grandnephews, great great grandnieces and great great grandnephews. She was predeceased by her son, James P. Daskal in 1990.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, October 22nd at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry. The burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry Road, in E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Assoc., NH Affiliate, PO Box 31160, Hartford, CT 06150-1160 or to the charity of one's choice.
