TEWKSBURY - Olive B. (Bamford)(Burns) Landers, age 85, a well known member of theTewksbury seniors community, died unexpectedly Tuesday night, Mar. 2, at Saints MemorialMedical Center in Lowell. She was the wife of the late John L. Burns, who died in 1970, andlater Alvin Landers, who died in 1998.
She was born in South Boston, April 29, 1918, a daughter of the late James T. and Ada (Clegg)Bamford. She was raised in South Boston and graduated South Boston High School. She hadresided in Tewksbury since 1956, and was an active communicant of St. William’s Church.
In her later years, she had enjoyed the company of seniors at the Tewksbury Senior Drop-InCenter, where she frequently danced, played cards and traveled.
She will be most fondlyremembered as having enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by three children, Patricia and her husband Joseph McLeod of Tewksbury, RichardBurns of Downington, PA, Jack and his wife Lisa (L’Ecuyer) Burns of Boston; two daughters-in-law Linda Burns ofWestford, Tamara Johnson of Plano, TX; three step-children, Richard and his wife Carol (Parella)Landers, Alan Landers, and Timothy and his wife Deborah (MacEachern) Landers all ofTewksbury; 13 grandchildren, Daniel McLeod of Lancaster, Scott McLeod of Dracut, BrianMcLeod of Lowell, Ryan and Meghan Burns of Westford, Melissa Burns of Somerville, RichBurns, Rachel and Lauren Landers all of Tewksbury, Emma Burns of Boston, Lisa Castro ofHarvard, Terry Guenard of Andover, Katharyn Johnson of Plano, TX; four great grandchildren,Connor, Erin, Cameron and Kyle McLeod.
She was also mother of the late Diane Burns who died in 1980 and stepmother of the late JohnJohnson who died in 1992.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, Mar. 6, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
