WORCESTER-Catherine Mabel (Kilgore) Barnicle, 90, formerly of 14 Winslow Street and South Pond , Brookfield, died Wednesday, March 3rd in Radius Healthcare Center. Her husband of 62 years John F. Barnicle died January 18th. She leaves 4 sons, Terrence J. Barnicle of Worcester, Timothy M. Barnicle of Chevy Chase, MD, Gerald F. Barnicle of Worcester and Stephan P. Barnicle of Simsbury, CT, a daughter Marybeth B. Rockwell of Worcester, a brother Charles Kilgore, Sr. of Northborough, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Her son Peter G. Barnicle, 2 brothers John and Martin Kelley, and 3 sisters Rita O’Keefe, Ann Logan and Helen Garrapy predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Lester and Catherine (Foudy) Kilgore. Mrs. Barnicle was a graduate of Commerce High School, and had worked as a secretary for J. F. Barnicle Oil Company for 54 years. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, and had served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for Pack 100, Den 2 at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Mrs. Barnicle enjoyed baking, reading, music, writing poetry and most of all her family.
The funeral is Saturday, March 6th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, March 5th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Sisters of Mercy, 101 Barry Road, Worcester, MA 01609.
