Catherine M. (Murphy) Higgins, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late Joseph C. Higgins, died at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Friday, October 14, 2011. She was 94 years old.
Born in Boston on October 19, 1916, she was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Winifred (Fitzgerald) Murphy. Mrs. Higgins was a graduate of Medford High School and worked for many years as a Real Estate Agent in Medford. In her spare time, Catherine enjoyed painting and was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Medford.
Catherine was the loving mother of Diane K. and her husband Frank X. Reagan of Stoneham, John T. “Jack” Higgins of Medford, and the late Joseph C. Higgins Jr. Devoted sister of Josephine McCormick of Rhode Island, Thomas Murphy of Gloucester, and the late Leo and Frederick Murphy and Rita Cignoni. Cherished grandmother of Sally, Maryjane and Xavier Reagan and Shannon Higgins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass was celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford, Thursday, October 20, 2011, at 10 AM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
