
John D. Cadieux, 97, of Windham, NH, died Saturday October 15, 2011 in Windham Terrace in Windham, NH, surrounded by his five children. He was born in Derry, NH on October 18, 1913, a son of the late Joseph and Blanche (Demers) Cadieux. A resident of Windham for the past three years, he was formerly a lifelong Derry resident. John served in the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer during WWII. He retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. where he worked as an agent. John received a commendation from the American Legion for Man of the Year. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry where he served as an usher, and was a founding member of the Knights of Columbus. He had also been a member of St. Joseph's Church in Belmont, NH where he had resided summers. John was a Town Moderator for the Town of Derry for 30 years, and had volunteered at the Marion Gerrish Center where he was involved in many different programs.
He is survived by two sons, Jack Cadieux and his wife Maureen of Laconia, NH, Dick Cadieux and his wife Kellie of Londonderry, NH; three daughters, Carol True and her husband Gary of Atkinson, NH, Mary Lou Dower of W. Newbury, MA, and Lynda Cadieux Ferland and her husband David of Portsmouth, NH; three honorary children, Tim Joule, Dayle Finn, and Joanne Sinky; seven grandchildren, Bruce, Jared, Kim, Mindy, Justine, Kaitlin, and Nick; seven great grandchildren, Sam, Kate, Hannah, Noah, Sarah, Isaiah, and Jennah. He was predeceased by his wife Ethel E. (Bailey) Cadieux on June 26, 2011.

Calling hours were held on Wednesday, October 19th from 4 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry. The burial was in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, to benefit his special needs grandchildren, may be made to the Kimi Nichols Center, 17 East Road, Plaistow, NH 03865-3115 in recognition of Jared True's program, or to Opportunity Works, 10 Opportunity Way, Newburyport, MA 01950 in recognition of Kaitlin Dower’s program.
