
FRANKLIN—Ret. Col., U.S. Army, Anthony L. Camuso, 81, of Franklin, died Friday October 14, 2011 at Milford Regional Medical Center shortly after his arrival after being stricken at home. He was the beloved husband of Constance “Connie” (Vallee) Camuso.
Born May 26, 1930 in Fall River, a son of the late Anthony F. & Angela (Mauretti) Camuso, he was raised and educated in Fall River and was a resident of Franklin for over 40 years.
A career serviceman, he worked in many fields, first as a personnel management officer, he was involved in air defense artillery, and was a commander at missile sites. During his time in the service he was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Massachusetts Service Medal with Bronze Star and Silver Star & Gold Eagle Device, and the Massachusetts Emergency Service Ribbon, he was honorably discharged after 37 years.
He enjoyed traveling, working with his hands, was known as a jack of all trades, spending time with his family, and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by a son, Anthony J. Camuso of California, 3 daughters; Celeste C. Driscoll of Florida, Cynthia C. Gagne of Whitinsville, and Lisa M. Camuso of Franklin, a brother John “Jack” Camuso of Saxonville. Also surviving are his 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with military honors Wednesday Oct. 19th, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin, www.oterifuneralhome.com, with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Sq. at 10AM.
Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
