TEWKSBURY - Mary R. (Sciarappa) Ginsburg, age 88, matriarch of a well known family, died peacefully Saturday morning, October 15. She was called home by the Lord to join her husband Mitchell Ginsburg, who died three weeks ago, on September 26th. They had been married for 67 years.
She was born in Boston, April 10, 1923, one of three children of the late Oliver R. "Happy" and Mary E. (Murray) Sciarappa. She was raised in Revere, and graduated from Revere High School. She raised her family in Revere and lived in Malden from 1979 until moving to Tewksbury in 1989. She and her husband wintered in Pembroke Pines, Florida, during their retirement years.
Mary worked at General Electric in Lynn during WWII, worked part time throughout her life as a receptionist for a local hairdresser, but devoted her life to raising her family as a "stay at home Mom." Later in her life she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren along with the many family gatherings that brought everyone together.
As a resident of Revere, she was active in the Immaculate Conception Parish in Revere, where she was past President of the Immaculata Guild. She was also active in the Revere Knights of Columbus as she supported her husband during his years as Grand Knight. She was an organizer and participant of the K of C Minstrel Shows, and was active in the K of C Couples Club.
In addition to family activities, she enjoyed sewing, bowling, and playing "penny ante" cards with her girlfriends.
She is survived by seven children; Richard T. Ginsburg and his wife Kathy MacInnis of Tewksbury, Richard's twin brother, Robert E. Ginsburg and his wife Susan Conley of Revere, Ellen Salipante and her husband Anthony of Tewksbury, Michael F. Ginsburg and his wife Karen (Kline) of Norwell, Amy Scarpa and her husband Pastor Nick Scarpa of Tewksbury, Maribeth Crupi and her husband Carl of Wilmington, Maribeth's twin brother, Marc P. Ginsburg and his wife Leisa (Burnett) of Tewksbury; seventeen beloved grandchildren; ten adoring great grandchildren; a sister, Caroline (Gilbert) Taylor of Tewksbury; a sister-in-law Nancy Sciarappa of Wilmington; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also sister of the late Michael Sciarappa, and sister-in-law of the late Anna Wigderson and Murray Ginsburg.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated October 12 in St. Dorothy's Church, followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery in No. Tewksbury. Memorials to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101, or visit www.stjude.org, will be appreciated.
