Anthony G. Dacruz, 37, of New Bedford died Wednesday February 13, 2002 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence after a brief illness. He was the son of Mariana (Goncalves) Pina, and the late Joao Cancio Dacruz.
Born in Dakar, Senegal, he immigrated to the United States in 1982, where he lived mostly in New Bedford.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mr. Dacruz was employed as a machine operator at the Aerovox Corporation.
An avid musician, he was a member of the West African Fraternity
Survivors include his mother, his companion, Emmanuela Cardoso of New Bedford; a son, Antoine Abib Dacruz, and his mother, Abi Niang, of New Bedford; a brother, Louis Dacruz and his wife Eunice of New Bedford; 7 sisters, Elisabeth Tavares and her husband Raimundo of New Bedford, Marlize Vogel and her husband Mike of Germany, Sylvie Dacruz of New Bedford, Natalie Dacruz of Florida, Fatima Dacruz of Germany, Noemi Szostock of France, and Leontine Dacruz of Italy; his grandmother, Julia Goncalves of Brava, Cape Verde; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.He was the father of the late Giselle Dacruz.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordSaturday February 16, 2002 at 11AM.Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 12 Noon.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
