John Francis Hynds, Sr. 84, of Sandown, NH formerly of Quincy, and Dorchester, MA, died Thursday October 13, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 9, 1927 in Framingham, MA and was a son of the late John A. and Anna (Coyle) Hynds. He was raised and educated in Allston, Ma. Mr. Hynds resided in Dorchester, for seven years, prior to moving to Quincy, where he lived for over thirty years. After retirement, he and his wife spent summers at Angle Pond in Sandown, NH, and winters in Clearwater, FL.
John served during WWII in the US Navy as a Sea Bee, where he served in the Pacific. Mr. Hynds was former owner of Hynds Petroleum Co. of Quincy, MA, and retired in 1989 as a custodian with the Quincy School District. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed making curio cabinets and bookcases, among other items. He was a longtime member of VFW post 1617 of Derry, and will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
Members of the family include his wife of 56 years, Jean (Murphy) Hynds of Sandown, son John F. Hynds, Jr. of Derry, NH, son James G. Hynds and his wife Tammy of Penacook, NH, daughter Jeanine Aly and her husband Ayman of Cairo, Egypt, and son Patrick J. Hynds and his wife Sabine of Derry, NH. 9 grandchildren, John F. Hynds, III, Daniel, Jessica, Shannon, Stephanie, Kaitlin, James Daniel, Jennifer, and Melissa, and 1 great grandson, Jackson, 2 surviving brothers, George Hynds of Falmouth, MA, and Edward Hynds of Bellingham, MA, 2 surviving sisters, Mary Lewis of Sandown, NH and Ann Paino, of Waterville Valley, NH, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no calling hours, a graveside committal of his cremated remains will be held at a later date by the family at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Rockingham VNA Hospice 137 Epping Road #F, Exeter, NH 03833-1594. Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St. Derry, NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
