Leocadia Haracz, 91

Leocadia (Sondej) Haracz, 91, of Norton, formerly of Clifton, New Jersey passed away on Friday October 14, 2011 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward F. Haracz.
Born in Passaic, New Jersey on January 12, 1920, she was a loving daughter of the late Michael and Katherine (Puzio) Sondej.
Lee grew up in Passaic, New Jersey, was educated in Passaic schools and was a graduate of Passaic High School. A lifelong learner, Mrs. Haracz was continuously furthering her education, and at age 65 received her associates degree from the Passaic Community College.
Dedicated to her adoring family, she had worked when younger at her families grocery and butcher store in Passaic, and during WWII, raised chickens and grew tomatoes on her farm in Clifton, New Jersey.
A resident of Norton for the past 16 years, she had formerly made her home in Clifton, New Jersey and was a communicant of St. John Kanty Roman Catholic Church in Clifton.
While residing in Norton, she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and was also a member of the Chartley Garden Club and very active at the Attleboro YMCA. Lee enjoyed participating in the annual Norton Halloween Parades, where she would dress up as “ mother nature”
She is survived by her devoted children; Joanne M. Haracz and her husband George Pereira of Norton, Michele H. Ciment and her companion Ronald Weston, Jr. of Avon, CT and Edward S. Haracz and his wife Susan of Little Falls, NJ. The dear sister of Teresa Nyklewicz of Wykoff, NJ and the late Marianna Sondej, she is also survived by her cherished grandchildren; Tanya Panetti of Pittsfield, MA, Christiana Ciment and Connor Ciment both of Simsbury, CT and Alexandra Haracz, Edward J. Haracz and William Haracz all of Little Falls, NJ, her great granddaughters Kyra Panetti and Calli Santucci as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday October 17th from 6-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St., (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday October 19th at 10 A.M. in St. John Kanty Roman Catholic Church in Clifton, New Jersey. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, South Hackensack, New Jersey.
