Alice P. (Guertin) Careau, 83, of Maplewoods Farm, Cumberland, died Tuesday at Landmark Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Edward J. Careau with whom she celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on August 31, 2011. Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Armand and Rose Anna (Masse) Guertin. Mrs. Careau was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the Italian Workingmen's Club Ladies Auxiliary, an avid bingo player and enjoyed board games.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son Edward A. Careau and his wife Jane of Middleboro, MA, a daughter Jeannine R. Michaud and her husband Gerard of Woonsocket, a brother Paul Guertin of Cumberland, a sister Dezima Durand of N. Smithfield, two grandchildren, Paul Careau and Elise Bordieri, three great grandchildren, Aidan and Juliana Careau and Kasey Rose Bordieri and nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Laurette Lebrun, Rita Vermette, Arthur Henault, Emile Henault, and Doris Robert.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Rd. Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland. Visiting hours are Friday 5-8 PM.
