Ed Collins, 60, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Saturday, October 8, 2011, in Ocilla.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 12, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Ed Reeves and the Rev. Wayne McCrimmon officiating. Interment will follow in Big Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Collins was born April 24, 1951 in Fitzgerald to Walter J. “Doc” Collins and the late Annette Clements Collins. He lived most of his life in Ben Hill and Irwin counties, attending from Irwin County High School and was a former resident of Berrien County. Mr. Collins received his Auto Mechanic and R.V. Repair training from Ben Hill-Irwin Technical School. He was a farmer and a former employee of Tri-County Gas Company, Irwin County EMC and Fitzgerald Water, Light & Bond. He was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Raye Collins of Irwin County; children, Walter E., Jr. & Randi Collins of Fitzgerald, Melody Collins Cowart & Joe Cowart of Adel and Derrick & Lisa Collins of Mystic; grandchildren, Ansleigh Cowart and Braydon Cowart; father: Walter J. “Doc” Collins of Ocilla; sister, Lois Collins of Mystic.
