Howard Thomas “Buck” Bray, age 79, died at his residence on Saturday, October 8, 2011.
Born February 29, 1932 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late James Arthur Bray and Anna Taylor Bray. He worked as a truck driver with Apac, from which he retired. Mr. Bray was a member of Holland Road Baptist Church, as well as a member of Shady Oak Baptist Church. He was married to Irene Bray who survives him.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bray is survived by two sons: Bruce Bray and wife Gina Bray, and Ralph Douglas Bray and fiancé Diana Loo, all of Phoenix, AZ; two brothers: Roy Bray of Richmond, VA, and Charles Bray of Reidsville, NC; two sisters: Gracie Shelton of Gretna, VA, and Pauline Davis of Danville, VA; two grandchildren: Tina Roof and Kristina Whitehead; and two great grandchildren: Olivia Potts and Bella Roof. He is predeceased by one brother: Oliver Bray.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Kenneth Hammock will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 10, 2011 from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. At other times, they will be at the residence; 1048 Walters Mill Road, Providence, NC, 27315.
