Mrs. Elizabeth T. “Bessie” (Raymond) Gallo, of Raynham and formerly of Taunton, died Friday, October 7 in Morton Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Frank Gallo. She was born 92 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Arsene and Mary (Cotter) Raymond. She was educated in Taunton and had been a city resident for most of her life. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as an L.P.N. at the former Paul A. Dever State School in Taunton for over 25 years. She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church Womens Guild. Bessie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially caring for her grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Raynham.
She leaves: 1 son: Russell Martin and his wife, Denise of Mesa, Ariz.; 2 daughters: Nancy Slota and her husband, Joseph of Uncasville, Ct., and Elizabeth Correia and her husband, Al of Raynham; 3 brothers: Russell Raymond and his wife, Ilsa of Florida, Roland Raymond and his wife, Jovita of Easton, and Leo Raymond and his late wife, Marcella of No. Attleboro; 1 sister: Madeline Mador and her late husband, Arthur of Florida; a daughter-in-law: Mary Martin of Raynham; 7 grandchildren: Michael Martin, Lynne Shapleigh, Robert Martin, Andrea Martin, Ann Slota-Johns, Alyssa Correia, and Tae Correia; 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Bessie was also the mother of the late Robert Martin of Raynham, and the sister of the late Joseph, John, Edward, Richard, and William Raymond.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated in St. Ann’s Church, Raynham, on Monday, October 10 at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted.
