Clarence Eldhybee “Buddy” Burkett, age 80, Douglas, GA passed away on October 06, 2011 at his residence, following a brief illness. Mr. Burkett was born in West Green, GA to the late Elmer and Avie Brantley Burkett on September 18, 1931. He was preceded in death by sisters: Wilda Faulk and Martha Andrews; brother: Warren Hall Burkett; sisters in law: Irene Burkett and Rolande Burkett; brothers in law: Rev. Junior Hayes, Bobby Andrews and Paul Adlesperger. Mr. Burkett was retired from Georgia Pacific Paper Company as a supervisor and he attended the First United Methodist Church in Douglas, GA. He was also a veteran of the US Army. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 09, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Hayes and Rev. Jason Hayes officiating. Survivors include: wife: Vera Harper Burkett; brothers: Ed Burkett, Alma, GA, Wallace Burkett, Fernandina Beach, Fl; sisters: Winnie Lou Hayes, Alma, GA, Weida Adlesperger, Lexington, KY; several nieces and nephews. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
