Obituary

Richard J. DelMonico, 64, a lifetime resident of Lawrence. Passed away unexpectedly at home Wednesday, October 5th, 2011.
He was born in Lawrence on January 1, 1947 to John DelMonico and Evelyn (Howshan) DelMonico. He was raised and educated in the Lawrence Schools and a graduate of Middletown High School in Middletown, Rhode Island.
Richard served his Country honorably under the outfit of the United States Navy. He served aboard the U.S.S. John. F. Kennedy during the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart. After receiving a Medical discharge from the Navy, Richard began his own successful painting business, and was enjoying retirement. Richard was also a cancer survivor, having beaten Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma as well as prostate cancer.
Richard is survived by his Mother Evelyn DelMonico, his sister Marion White and brother in-law Jim White of Plaistow, NH, his brother John DelMonico of Lawrence, a son Richard DelMonico and daughter in-law Christina of Derry, NH and Melissa DelMonico of Olathe, Kansas. Richard also leaves behind 2 grand children, Aiden James DelMonico and Aaron Jacob DelMonico Leitz. Nieces and Nephews, Scott White and Heather McFadden of Plaistow, NH, Nick, John and Gianna DelMonico of Methuen, MA, and great Nieces Ashley McFadden and Evy White and great nephew Matthew McFadden.
Richard enjoyed spending time with his Son and Daughter-in-law, along with his grandson on the weekends. He also enjoyed golf as a spectator as well as playing. His other interests included following the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and New England Patriots.
Richards special enjoyment was having Sunday dinner at his Mom’s with the family. His sense of humor kept everyone laughing and enjoying his company. His frequent trips to Foxwoods was most favorable with his friend Dan Belfiore. Richard will be remembered for his wit and unselfishness to all. Richard will be sadly missed by his mother, unconditionally, as her friend and was a comfort to her since the passing of his father.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 8th, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. in the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA. Burial will take place in the United Lebanese Cemetery in Andover, MA.
