John J. Swaynos, Jr., 47, of Fitzgerald, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be held at 7 P.M., Friday, October 7, at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Raymond Levreault officiating. The Family will receive friends after the service.
Mr. Swaynos was born January 22, 1964 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Joyce Reed Swaynos and the late John J. Swaynos. He attended Windber Area High School, Windber, PA until the eleventh grade and moved to Fitzgerald in January of 1980. He played football and played the trumpet for Fitzgerald High School, graduating in 1982. He attended Ben Hill-Irwin Technical School and worked as a welder for Forest River. Mr. Swaynos was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring hot wheels and trains and working on cars.
He is survived by his wife, Sondra L. Swaynos of Fitzgerald; mother, Joyce L. Swaynos of Fitzgerald; children, Leigh Mikus of Fitzgerald, James Christopher (Allison) Taylor of Ft. Benning, Janicea (Phillip) Stinchcomb and John James Swaynos, III of Fitzgerald, Zachary A. Swaynos of Windber, PA and Jimmy C. (Jessica) Wiggins of Fitzgerald; 10 grandchildren; brother, Jamie Ray (Janet) Swaynos of Fitzgerald as well as several nieces and nephews.
