Obituary

Norman F. Gorden, 79, of Mattapoisett died October 3, 2011 unexpectedly at Tufts Medical Center. He was the husband of Nancy M. (McAdam) Gorden.
Mr. Gorden was the son of the late Carl P. and Dorothy P. (Childs) Gorden. He lived in Taunton for 36 years before moving to Mattapoisett in 2000.
He retired as chairman of the Bristol County Savings Bank after more than 30 years of service.
Mr. Gorden served in Japan in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed sailing and was the navigator aboard the Wind Flower II in the 1979 Marion to Bermuda race where they took first place in their class and third overall. He also enjoyed time spent with his family in Vermont.
Survivors include his wife Nancy; 2 daughters, Susan Gorden Ryan of Mattapoisett and Kristen Gorden Hallam and her husband David of Assonet; 3 grandchildren, Shane Patrick Ryan, Chase Hunter Ryan and Kassidy Gorden Hallam; and 3 step-grandchildren, Alie Hallam, Olivia Hallam and Madeline Hallam.
Visiting hours Monday, October 10th from 4-8 PM in the the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery will be private.
