Gilmanton, N.H.----Muriel Louise (Magnuson) Melanson, 83, of 58 Lou Lane, died in Belmont on Sunday, October 2, 2011.
Muriel was born November 10, 1927 in Quincy, Mass., the daughter of Eric C. and Hortense G. (LaFreniere) Magnuson. She lived in Malden, Mass for many years before moving to Alton, N.H. For the past eleven years, she lived in Gilmanton. She had been employed at Verizon for over thirty-five years, retiring in 1991.
Muriel loved a good poker game, politics, reading and nature.
Muriel was a devoted mother of six children, Christopher David Melanson and his wife, Janice, Wayne Richard Melanson and his wife, Pamela, Charles William Melanson, Jr. and his wife, Karen, Erica Marie DiFiore, Suzanne Benson and Valerie Melanson Cote and her husband, John J. Boutin; four grandchildren, Alan L. Vetree, Jr., Nicole Melanson, Joseph Melanson and Wayne Melanson, Jr.; one great grandson, Joseph Melanson, Jr.; a brother, Eric Magnuson, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Jane Wilson, and by a large extended family whom she loved so very much.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 10:00AM-Noon in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.
A Graveside Service will follow at 1:00PM at the family lot in Smith Meeting House Cemetery, Meeting House Road, Gilmanton, NH.
