Obituary

MAURIELLO, Mario F. "Red"- Of Naples, FL formerly of Malden, October 1st. Devoted husband for 59 years to Mary L. (Graffam). Beloved father of Mary Anne LeViet and her husband Nam of Maui, HI, Rosemary Mauriello of Naples, FL, Jane D'Avolio and her husband Domenic of Middleton, Jack Mauriello of Malden and Mark Mauriello and his wife Maryellen of Reading. Son of the late Mario G. and Rose (Colannino) Mauriello. Dear brother of Ronald Mauriello and his wife Lillian, Francis Mauriello and his wife Roberta and the late Flavio. Brother-in-law of Grace Mauriello and Jane Donovan and her husband Edward. Cherished grandfather of Lauren, Nicholas, Janie, James, Kristin, Jason, Ava and Mark. Also lovingly survived by his great grandchildren Max and Myles as well as 13 nieces and nephews. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem Street, (Maplewood Square) MALDEN on Friday, October 7th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden at 10 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Carroll Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Forestdale Cemetery, Malden. Born in Malden, he spent his early childhood in Medford. A graduate of malden High School Class of 1949, he excelled in basketball and baseball. He was inducted into the Malden High School Golden Tornado Hall of Fame. While attending Tufts University, he left to sign with the St. Louis Cardinals organization as a catcher, but was called to duty to serve in the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. Upon discharge, the Cardinals offered him a position as manager in the Florida State League in Sanford, Florida.
"Red" was married to his high school sweetheart, Mary for 59 years. In 1955 they built their home in Malden where they raised their 5 children. After leaving the family construction business due to illness, "Red" became a successful Real Estate Broker in Malden for over 30 years. He was very active in City affairs and also with his Parish at St. Joseph's in Maplewood where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Father's Club. He was a member of the Malden Kiwanis, the Malden Mosse Club and the Malden Chamber of Commerce.
