Obituary

East Bridgewater – William G. Crowell 90, a longtime resident of East Bridgewater passed away Saturday October 1 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. He was the beloved husband for over 50 years to the late Amariet (McGrath) Crowell.

Born in Braintree on July 22, 1921 he was the son of the late William S. and Katherine (Estabrook) Crowell.

William grew up in Weymouth and Quincy and was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1940.

He was a proud Veteran of World War II having served in the US Army from 1942-1946 and was assigned to the 9th General Hospital medical department. His tour of duty included Australia, New Guinea, Goodenough Island, Biak, Philippines and Japan.

He had worked at Boston Whaler for over 25 years before his retirement in 1988.

William enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His humor and kindness was always present. He loved listening to the radio, watching the Red Sox and planting tomatoes and watching them grow in his garden.

He is survived by his three children Paul Crowell of Oakland, CA, Amariet Karahalis and her husband Norman of Bridgewater, and Amanda Crowell of Rockland. He was the cherished grandfather of Steven and Olivia Swiatek, and brother of the late Christine Crowell.

His funeral service will be held Thursday October 6 at 1 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday October 5 from 5-8 PM.
