George J. Dorminy, 82, of Fitzgerald died February 27, 2004 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, February 29, 2004 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald with Rev. Daniel Dean and Rev. Vernon Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday evening from 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Dorminy was born November 12, 1921 in Ben Hill County, Georgia to the late Elijah Jackson Dorminy and Mattie Verna Roberts Dorminy. He was a former body and fender repairman with Stone Motor Company, Mann Motors, and Fitzgerald Motors. He was a former employee for Jack’s Cookie Company and drove the bus for the Ben Hill County Senior Citizen’s Center. Mr. Dorminy was an Army Veteran of World War II where he served in the Army Medical Corps and was a member of New Corinth Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Griswold.
Mr. Dorminy is survived by: his wife, Virtis Young Dorminy of Fitzgerald; 2 granddaughters, Sonja Griswold Morris of Ocilla and Johanna Griswold of Fitzgerald; 2 great-grandchildren, Gabriel Morris and Grace Morris, both of Ocilla; 3 brothers: Martin Edward Dorminy of Reading, PA, Jack Dorminy, Jr. of Denton, and Dwight Dorminy of Kilgore, TX; 1 sister, Mildred Pearce of High Springs, FL.
