Gloria N. BoswellGloria N. (Bontigao) Boswell, 69, a former resident of Newton and Framingham died at Newton Health Care in Newton on Tues Feb 24, 2004 following a long battle with cancer. Born in Sorsogon, Philippines, she attended the Baguio Nursing School in Baguio, Philippines and studied at Radcliffe College in Cambridge. Affectionately known as “Yoye” by her family and friends, she had been an active member of St. Ignatius Church in Chestnut Hill, and was active in regional Filipino associations. She was a member of the Filipino Nurses Assoc., the Mass Medical Society, the International Institute of Boston and had volunteered at the Campion Center in Weston. She had also worked in the admitting office at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton.Wife of the late Dr. Jeb Boswell M.D., and daughter of the late Benito and Gliceria (Nicolas) Bontigao, she is survived by her children Deborah Boswell Lane of Franklin ME, David B. Boswell of Santa Fe NM, Rebecca Boswell of Boston, and Nakita Kawal of Loveland CO, her siblings Aster Fajardo, Bella Duran, Eli Bontigao all of the Philippines, Fe Wong of Vancouver and Warren Bontigao of Vietnam. She is also survived by her grandson, Bayani Kawal, whom she affectionately called “My One and Only”. Her memory is also cherished by the Suatengco, Dela Cruz and Aquilo families.She was the sister of the late Benito Bontigao Jr.Relatives and friends will gather at the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. NEWTON CORNER on Mon Mar 1, 2004 at 9 AM and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, Chestnut Hill, at 10 AM. Interment will be private.
