Ethel Sue Clements Benson, 72, of Tifton went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 30, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Elder Sheldon Mikell, Elder Paul Thomas and Elder Maurice Riner will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Darrell Benson, Dickie Hilton, Stevie Arrington, Herbie Benson, David Clements and Freddie Cheek will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Benson was born on August 28, 1939 in Tift County and was the daughter of David Leon Clements and Willie Wilson Clements, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Clements and David Leon Clements, Jr.; and two sisters, Betty Clements Hill and Faye Clements Duckworth. She was co-owner of Benson Construction Company and worked many years at Tri-County Gas and Dr. Baldwin’s Dentist Office.
Mrs. Benson is survived by her husband, Harold Benson of Tifton; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Ricky Carlton and Tammy Benson of Tifton, James “Jimmy” and Susan Benson of Tifton, Gregory Paul and Vicki Benson of Grant, Alabama and Joe H. Benson of Tifton; two sisters, Jean Clements Hilton of Tifton and Joyce Clements George of Griffin; one sister-in-law, Margaret Clements of Tifton; twelve grandchildren, Marie Benson Morris and husband Jamie, Ben Benson, Prue Benson, Kayla Benson Monk and husband Jeffery, Savannah Benson, Zackery Benson, Abi Benson, Rachel Benson, Tori Benson, Raina Kate Benson, Joey Benson and Jayson Benson; and two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Morris and Stirling Morris.
