Horace Jefferson Durley, 68, of Tifton died Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Brookfield Baptist Church. Rev. Gary Cadwell will officiate with burial to follow in Lawrence Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Durley was born on July 12, 1943 in Nahunta and was the son of Tom Durley and Irene Wilson Durley Briston, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two brothers. He was retired from Union Camp and a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
Mr. Durley is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Holden Durley of Tifton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tracy and Lisa Durley of Louisiana and Don Dillard of Excelsior; one daughter, Denise Durley of Louisiana; one sister and brother-in-law, Rena and Danny Ball of Albany; three sisters-in-law and their husbands, Margie and John Shoemaker of Milledgeville, Lena and Aubrey Gray of Tifton and Grace Thompson of Ty Ty; one brother-in-law and his wife, David and Connie Holden of Chula; eleven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
