Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Dale J. Sweatt, 83, formerly of Beverly, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at home, where he resided with his son and family.
Born in Beverly on July 28, 1928, he was the son of the late Samuel and Lena (Dube) Sweatt.
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he served in the Military Police at the Portsmouth Naval Prison.
Dale had been employed for forty-five years as a mutuel clerk at Suffolk Downs and also the former Wonderland Dog Track. Often holding down two jobs at once, he had also worked for the Checker Taxi Company and the Beverly Post Office.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah J. (Mee) Sweatt; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory J. and Lisa (MacNeil) Sweatt; three grandchildren, whom he adored, Matthew, Ryan and Emily Sweatt; a sister, Patricia Frongillo; two brothers, Barry Sweatt and Lee Langton; a sister-in-law, Beverly, wife of Stephen D’Avolio; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday morning in the Dolliver Memorial Cemetery, Lincoln Street, West Gloucester at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours.
