Obituary


Jane Marie Bent (Buckley)of Canton , died Sunday, September 25th at Sunrise of Norwood after a long illness. She was 80.

The daughter of the late, Frederick J. and Anna (Monahan) Buckley, she was born, raised and educated in Canton , where she had resided there for most of her life. Also living in both Franklin and Mattapoisett for years number of years.

Ms. Bent attended the Henry O. Peabody School of Nursing and attained her LPN degree in order to better care for her own family members.

She had a great love for Maine and had been a seasonal resident of East Boothbay Harbor for over 40 years.

Retiring from New England Telephone and its subsequent companies after her almost 40 years of service she worked in various positions in the company throughout her tenure. She was a member of the Pioneer's Club.

An avid baker, she loved animals, both domestic and in nature and enjoyed rug braiding, crocheting and knitting and caring for her home.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Fred and his wife, Marion, Bill and his wife, Eileen and Joe and his wife, Dolly.

Ms. Bent is survived by her beloved Jack Russell, "Honey", her nieces and nephews, Elaine and Steve Gill, William "Guy" Buckley, Joe and Anne Buckley, Fred and Leslie Buckley, Ann "Tammy" Woodman, Alan and Debbie Buckley, Maura and James Stewart and Julie Buckley and Kayla Melville. She is also survived by her many great and great great nieces and nephews, She also leaves her many loving friends and wonderful caretakers at Sunrise of Norwood where she had spent the past 4 years.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in Celebration of Jane's Life from the Roache - Pushard Family Home for Funerals, 210 Sherman Street, Canton, on Thursday September 28,at 8 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Catherine of Sienna Church, Washington Street, Norwood at 9 a.m.

Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Boothbay Region Animal Shelter, 45 Montgomery Road, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.
