...retired from General Dynamics; 90
TEWKSBURY - John F. Horn, age 90, a WWII Veteran, died Tuesday evening, September 27, at Saints Medical Center in Lowell. He had been in residence at Blaire House of Tewksbury for the past two years. He was the beloved husband for 47 years of Doris M. (Kendrick) Horn who died in 1996.
He was born in Boston, March 13, 1921, a son of the late John F. and Cecelia (Fox) Horn. He was raised in Malden, but moved his family to Tewksbury in 1954.
During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army, Company C, of the 850th Signal Service Corps, where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He participated in engagements in north Africa, and northern France.
He retired from General Dynamics in Marlborough, where he worked as a Quality Control Engineer.
He is survived by three children, Claire F. Reed and her husband Thomas of Chelmsford, John F. Horn of Fairfax, VA, Diane M. Ducharme and her husband Daniel of Lowell; nine grandchildren, Bradley, Douglas and Andrew Reed, Christina Morelli, Robert, Joshua, and Anya Horn, David and Joseph Ducharme; a brother, Bernard Horn and his wife Virginia of Reading, MA; a sister, Margaret Coates of Reading; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also brother of the late Anna Horn, Alice McNamara, and Joseph Horn.
Visiting hours Friday, September 30, from 4:00 to 7;00 in the funeral home. His Funeral will be held Saturday morning, October 1, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by burial in Tewksbury Cemetery.
