Arthur A. Smith, 82, of Mattapoisett died February 14, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Alice (McBurney) Smith, and son of the late Arthur A. and Anna C. (Kieran) Smith.
Mr. Smith was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and had lived in Mattapoisett since 1953. He was a graduate of Providence College, Class of 1941.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett.
Mr. Smith was formerly employed as a project manager at Acushnet Rubber Company for many years until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Tony Smith of Ames, Iowa, and Andrew Smith of Sudbury; 2 daughters, Anne Beemer of Arlington, Virginia, and Lisa Gillum of West Boylston; a brother, Charles Smith of Rumsford, Rhode island; 7 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in St. Anthony's Church, Mattapoisett, Saturday, February 16th at 10 AM, followed by burial in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Mattapoisett. Visiting hours are omitted.
