ATTLEBORO – Joseph R. Botelho, husband of Barbara A. (Butler) Botelho of Attleboro, died at Memorial Hospital in N. Conway, NH on Sept. 25, 2011.
He was 77.
Born, raised, and educated in Taunton, he was the son of the late Antone and Mary (Bernardo) Botelho.
He graduated from Taunton High School in 1952, and later served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.
A resident of Attleboro since 1961, Mr. Botelho worked for the former Fernandes Supermarkets as a maintenance supervisor for over 20 years, and was later employed by Shaw’s Supermarkets as a project manager.
He retired in 2004.
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro and a former communicant of St. Anthony Church in Taunton.
An avid skier, he enjoyed sailing and spending time with his family at their vacation home in Madison, NH.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Michael Botelho and his wife Diane Blagman of Potomac, MD, and Joseph Botelho, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Berkley; three daughters, Sandra Childs and her husband Brad of Attleboro, Sally Waitt and her husband Tom of Sheridan, IN, and Susan McNary and her husband James of Attleboro; a brother, Lionel Botelho of Wareham; fourteen grandchildren; and two nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday Sept. 30th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church, Taunton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 29th from 5 to 8 p.m.
