Obituary

Bruce F. Stevens, 77, of Wareham died September 25, 2011 unexpectedly at Tufts Medical Center.
He was the husband of Virginia (Spencer) Stevens.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late William B. and Rita (Pinto) Stevens, he lived in Wareham for the last 40 years.
Mr. Stevens was formerly employed by NStar Gas Company for many years until his retirement. He was also a longshoreman in New Bedford and enjoyed umpiring softball games.
Mr. Stevens served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He was a member of the 9-18 Golf Club and a longtime member of the Whaling City Golf Course. He was a loving, kind person.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jonathan Stevens of Philadelphia, PA; 3 daughters, Karen Stevens of New York City, Cheryl Stevens-Broadus and her husband Melvin of Rockville, MD and Tonia Kaloun of Connecticut; 2 brothers, Michael Stevens of New Bedford and Robert Stevens of Cambridge, MA; 2 sisters, Kathleen Stevens of Truro, MA and Barbara Stevens of Provincetown, MA; a granddaughter, Lauren Anderson; many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Richard Stevens and William Stevens, Jr.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 10 AM in the First Church of the Nazarene, 764 Hathaway Rd., New Bedford. Visiting hours Friday, September 30th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the 9-18 Golf Club Youth Program, P.O. Box 51048 New Bedford, MA 02745 or to the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene, 6 Rogers Ave., Wareham, MA 02571.
