M. Lois (Leach) Murphy, 82, of South Weymouth, formerly of Centerville and Brockton, died September 26, 2011 at Renaissance Gardens in Hingham. Beloved wife of the late John F. “Jack” Murphy for 54 years. Daughter of the late J. Frederick and Alice G. (Brady) Leach. A 1947 graduate of Brockton High School, Mrs. Murphy also graduated from the Chandler Business School For Women in 1949. Mrs. Murphy was a secretary for Loomis-Sales and then a stay-at-home Mom while raising her four boys and then returned to work as a secretary with the Brockton Public Schools where she retired in 1987.
Lois was the loving mother of John F. Murphy and his wife Colleen of South Easton, Paul E. Murphy and his wife Linda of East Bridgewater, Attorney Gerald T. Murphy and his wife Joyce of South Weymouth and James J. Murphy and his wife Sara of Wrentham. Cherished “Nana” to Shannon, Kristen, Katie, Emily, Gerald, Michael, Katherine, James, Paige and Brenna Murphy. She was the sister of the late A. Lorraine Leach and Marilyn T. Tyrrell. Mrs. Murphy was a very close friend of Dottie Johnson also of South Weymouth and her lifelong childhood best friend, Elena (Capachione) Martel of South Easton.
A heartfelt “thank you” to the entire staff at the Renaissance Gardens in Hingham for their loving professional care, respect, and compassion to our beloved mother. This entire staff extended themselves above and beyond the normal course of their duties to support our mom and family during a very difficult time.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home Thursday at 9:30am for a funeral mass in St. Edith Stein Parish at 10:30am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
