Obituary

Augusta, GA---Mrs. Mildred Cahill Blain, 92, entered into rest on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Trinity Hospital of Augusta.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am tomorrow Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Father Gerald Ragan as celebrant. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
A Vigil service for the deceased will be held this evening Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 6:00 pm at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Deacon Ken Maleck officiating. The family will receive friends following the service from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
Mrs. Blain was a native of Hartford, Connecticut and was a Registered Nurse. She had been a resident of Augusta for 51 years and was retired from St. Joseph Hospital, now Trinity Hospital of Augusta. Mrs. Blain was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church and was a charter member of Sweet Adeline’s Harmony River Chorus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terence Blain, daughter, Kathleen Blain, parents, Thomas F. and Nellie DeLay Cahill, brother, Robert Cahill and sister, Viola C. Durkin.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Blain and wife, Anita of Burke, VA, daughter, Elizabeth Handley and husband, Paul of Warner Robins, GA, five grandchildren, Bonnie Hebert, Melissa Wellham, Jennifer Keifer, Jeremy Blain and Julia Ponce, ten great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
