Mark Poole, 56, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, September 25, 2011, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 28 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Taylor and the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Poole was born August 16, 1955 in Bartow, Florida to the late Hubert E. ”Buck” Poole and the late Justine Morris Gibson. He lived most of his life in Irwin and Ben Hill counties. Mr. Poole was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War era. He was a truck driver and a member of Englewood Baptist Church. Mr. Poole enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, in such places as the Moose Lodge, Colony City Opera, Sunny Dale Training Center, the Special Olympics and for benefits and street dances.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, J.R. (Lynn) Poole of Fitzgerald, Michael (Olga) Poole of New Port Richey, FL and William “Bill” Poole of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Amber Poole, Baylee Poole, Leslie McCard, Garrett McCard and Gaven Poole; brother, Neal (Sharon) Poole of Fitzgerald; sisters, Sharon (Paul) Harnage of Adel, Jackquelyn Thomas of Fitzgerald and Donna (Ken) Lyons of Brooksville, FL; aunt & uncle, Brenda & Gerald Walsh of Irwinville as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Helms Poole.
