Edward Couture, 87, formerly of Smithfield, died peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday, September 21, 2011, in Minnesota. He was the husband of the late Theresa G. (Chapedelaine) Couture.
Born in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Arthur J. and Margaret (Walsh) Couture. He had lived in North Providence and Smithfield until moving to be near his son in Minnesota last October.
Mr. Couture was a machinist for M. Earl Adams, Co., in Johnston for 38 years before retiring in 1989. He was a former member of St. Augustine Church in Providence. He was an Army Veteran.
He is survived by his sons William R. Couture of Raleigh, NC, Paul E. Couture of Invergrove Heights, MN, four grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Arthur R. Couture.
A Mass of Christian Burialto which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation and flowers respectfully omitted.
