William Daniel Dorminy, 79, of Alapaha died Sunday, September 25, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Mike Gibbs will officiate with burial to follow in Fletcher Cemetery in Alapaha. Eddie Owens, Lincoln Gaskins, Ed Giddens, Wycliff Vance, Arnold Brogdon and Buddy Pafford will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 29, 2011, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Dorminy was born on August 25, 1932 in Berrien County and was the son of Hanson Norman Dorminy and Lillian Prosser Dorminy, both deceased. He was a retired farmer and attended Alapaha Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Dorminy is survived by his wife, Barbara Clark Dorminy of Alapaha; three sons, John Daniel Dorminy of Alapaha, Timothy Daniel Dorminy of Gadsden, Alabama and Donald Robert Newman of Kingsport, Tennessee; one daughter, Paula Louise Parks of Pennington Gap, Virginia; one brother, Robert Paige Dorminy of Orlando, Florida; and four grandchildren, Trey Parks, Paulina Parks, Andrew Newman and Nathan Newman.
