Ham Baker, age 76, died Thursday, September 22, 2011 at his home in Water Valley, MS.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 2:30 PM until 4:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. David Freeman officiating. Burial will take place in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Charles Thomas, Billy Samuels, Jerry Holt, Donny Guest, Larry Bell and J.W. Tutor serving as pallbearers.
Ham was born October 19, 1934 in Water Valley, MS to the late John Henry and Mary True Baker. He worked a number of years in the newspaper printing business and retired as an employee of the City of Water Valley. Ham was an avid fisherman and gardener. He was a wonderful storyteller and enjoyed telling about the history of Water Valley. He loved his family and was a wonderful father and grandfather.
Ham is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Stewart and Wendy Hodge (Jeff) both of Water Valley, MS; one son, John Stephen (Brenda) Baker of Oxford, MS; a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his significant friend, Lillian McCurdy of Water Valley, MS.
