James V. McMullen, Jr., 68, of Edgewater, FL, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach, FL. He was the beloved husband of Sandra (Polastri) McMullen for 46 years.
Born in Boston on March 30, 1943, he was the son of the late James V. and Dorothy (Sampson) McMullen.
Mr. McMullen had resided in Medway for 19 years and also in Norfolk for 7 years until moving to Edgewater, FL in 2003.
Mr. McMullen was a graduate of Concord High School and Boston College. Before his retirement, he worked at Lotus Development Corp. in Cambridge for 12 years, and had previously worked for IBM for 22 years.
Mr. McMullen was a member of the Edgewater-New Smyrna Beach Lodge of Elks #1557 and the American Legion Post # 0285 in Edgewater.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Peter M. McMullen and his wife Patricia M. of Norwood, NJ and his daughter Julie A. Keefe and her husband Terence of Westford, VT. He was the father of the late James V. McMullen, III.
He is also survived by three grandchildren, Aidan, Connor and Brendan, two sisters, Janet Jones of Concord and Mary Thompson of Rindge, NH, a brother John McMullen of Los Altos, CA, and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Dorothy Kelly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Tuesday, September 27 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Norfolk Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 – 8 p.m.
